En mi casa vivimos, mi hijo Alejandro y yo misma. Mi hijo de 32 años, es funcionario de los Cuerpos y Fuerzas de Seguridad y yo, con 61 años también soy funcionaria de la Administración Autonómica. En casa hablamos en español. Manejamos nociones básicas de francés e inglés. En cuanto al estilo de vida, normalmente nos adaptamos a los estudiantes. De hecho nos han visitado familiares y hemos compartido actividades. También hemos llevado a nuestros estudiantes a reuniones sociales propias. Pero siempre, atendiendo sus propias inquietudes. Mi hijo acude regularmente a la piscina, sale a correr y practica pádel. Yo voy a yoga, baile y algo de piscina. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ My son Alejandro and I live in my house. My son, 32 years old, is a civil servant in the Security Forces and I, 61 years old, am also a civil servant in the Autonomous Administration. At home we speak Spanish. We have a basic knowledge of French and English. As for our lifestyle, we usually adapt to the students. In fact, we have had family members visit us and we have shared activities. We have also taken our students to social gatherings of our own. But always, we have taken care of their own concerns. My son regularly goes to the pool, goes jogging and paddle tennis. I go to yoga, dance and some swimming. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- OPINION: I stayed with Eva and her son Alejandro during my semester at IE Segovia and had a lovely experience. The house is a half hour walk to the University through the countryside, which I made nearly every day without issue (although there are other options if you prefer). Sometimes they drove me into the city or I took the bus, which was quick and easy. When I arrived in Segovia I spoke conversational Spanish, but thanks to Eva and Alejandro I was fluent by the time I left. Eva is a wonderful person who will welcome you into her family--she will take you on tours of Segovia and she will feed you until you explode, which is part of the reason I walked so much. After six months in Eva's house I had learned more of the language, history, and culture of Spain than I could with a lifetime of reading, and I left with a larger family than when I arrived. They are lovely people and Eva is a hostess of the highest caliber. They really made me feel like family while I was there, and I still consider them family today. - Grant Dougharty

Mi vivienda es una casa unifamiliar adosada bastante amplia de mi propiedad. Tiene 2 cuartos de baño,  2 aseos, tiene un amplio salón y dispone de terrazas y patio.
El estudiante dispone en su habitación de cama, escritorio, armario, estanterías, etc. Adosada a la habitación hay una zona de descanso similar a una zona de estar y junto a la habitación un solarium de 45 metros cuadrados, para tomar el sol y hacer deporte. El baño es compartido, bien conmigo si es una estudiante o bien con mi hijo si es un varón.
La casa consta de todos los servicios básicos, así como wifi. No se permite fumar.
La vivienda está ubicada al inicio del municipio de La Lastrilla, en el límite con Segovia y para ir hasta la Universidad hay un precioso camino rural que en tan solo 20/25 minutos andando te lleva al centro educativo (8 minutos en bici, 5 minutos en coche). También hay transporte público a tan solo 3 minutos de la casa que deja al estudiante junto al acueducto o en la Avenida de Vía Roma (otros 10 minutos andando).
El estudiante que decide estudiar y vivir en mi domicilio no tiene que preocuparse de nada, tan solo de estudiar. Yo me encargo de la comida (salvo que el estudiante puntualmente quiera cocinar), de la ropa, de la limpieza y orden y sobre todo de que se sienta a gusto y no añore su lugar de origen.

My house is a semi-detached single-family house quite spacious of my property. It has 2 bathrooms, 2 toilets, has a large living room and has terraces and patio.

The student has a bed, desk, closet, shelves, etc. in his room. Attached to the room there is a rest area similar to a living area and next to the room a solarium of 45 square meters, for sunbathing and sports. The bathroom is shared, either with me if she is a student or with my son if he is a boy.

The house has all the basic services, as well as wifi. Smoking is not allowed.

The house is located at the beginning of the town of La Lastrilla, on the border with Segovia and to go to the University there is a beautiful country road that in just 20/25 minutes walk takes you to the educational center (8 minutes by bike, 5 minutes by car). There is also public transport just 3 minutes from the house that leaves the student next to the aqueduct or on the Via Roma Avenue (another 10 minutes walk).

The student who decides to study and live in my home does not have to worry about anything, only about studying. I take care of the food (unless the student wants to cook), the clothes, the cleaning and tidiness and above all that he/she feels comfortable and does not miss his/her place of origin.
